Professional Career[]
Buddy Shaw (born 1952) was born and raised in Catskill Mountains, New York. He fought in the Heavyweight Division for many years but was never able to capture the Heavyweight Championship. He came close to receiving a shot at the title when Mac Lee Green dropped out of his scheduled heavyweight title bout with Apollo Creed due to a hand injury, but by this point of his career Shaw was on the edge of retirement and had gained a large amount of weight.
During his prime, Shaw was described as a lean, mean, fighting machine. He had an exceptional reach and a stinging jab, making him a tough target to hit. He also loved to frustrate his opponents. Shaw had great hand speed and could blind his opponents with lightning-quick flurries.[1]
