Sage Moonblood Stallone (May 5, 1976 – July 10, 2012) was an American actor, film director, film producer, and screenwriter.[1][2][3]
Early life[]
Sage Stallone was born in Los Angeles, California, the elder son of Sasha Czack and Sylvester Stallone. He was the brother of Seargeoh Stallone, and half-brother of Sistine, Sophia, and Scarlet Stallone. He came from a show business family. His uncle was actor and singer Frank Stallone, and his grandmother was Jackie Stallone. Jennifer Flavin was his stepmother, and his godfather was actor Joe Spinell. Stallone was of Italian, French and Russian-Jewish ancestry on his father's side.
Career[]
As a child, Stallone had made a guest appearance on Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling, brought by his grandmother Jackie Stallone, who promoted the series.[4]
Stallone made his acting debut alongside his father in Rocky V (1990), the fifth installment of the Rocky film franchise, playing Robert "Rocky" Balboa Jr., the onscreen son of his father's title character. He did not, however, reprise the same role in "Rocky Balboa", the sixth installment of the "Rocky" films. He later appeared with his father in Daylight (1996). Since then, he acted in lesser profile films.
In 1996, Stallone and film editor Bob Murawski co-founded Grindhouse Releasing, a Los Angeles-based company dedicated to the restoration and preservation of exploitation films and B-movies. Stallone directed his first short film Vic, which won the 2006 Boston Film Festival "Best New Filmmaker" award.
His last working projects were appearances in Vincent Gallo's last two films, Promises In The Water and The Agent. Both films were shown in main competition at the 2010 Venice Film Festival and in the Toronto International Film Festival. Since those screenings, Gallo has said neither film will be released or screened again as he has no interest in a relationship with the public.
Personal life[]
Stallone was married briefly to Starlin Wright. The marriage was annulled in 2008.[5]
Death[]
Sage Stallone was found dead in his Studio City, Los Angeles home on July 13, 2012, at age 36.[5] Law enforcement stated that he could have been dead for at least three days up to a week. No one had heard from him in days.[6]
On August 30, 2012, the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office announced that Sage died of atherosclerotic coronary artery disease, which caused a heart attack.[7][8][9]
Sage is interred at Westwood Memorial Park in Los Angeles[10]
